First Scholarship and 2019 Phase 1 Achieved!

It has been a crazy week! Our first scholarship was awarded on May 24th at the Emerald Ridge HS Scholarship Tea. Two of our Founders, Melissa Brassard and Steve Aguilar, were there to present the award. The first recipient of our Character In Life Scholarship is Jordan Adams. Jordan has been an active participant in the Teaching Academy at Emerald Ridge and plans on attending Central Washington University in the fall. Jordan was pleasantly surprised when her name was announced. We are excited for her and for her future. We hope she will stay in contact with us over the next few years as she completes her post-secondary education and works towards a classroom of her own. Congratulations Jordan!!

Our group set some initial goals for 2018 and 2019 when we first started. We wanted to offer a Character In Life Scholarship to one graduating senior from Emerald Ridge HS and one graduating senior from Puyallup HS. Easy enough, mission accomplished. For the Class of 2019, we wanted to do the same (2019 Phase One). That would be an incredible accomplishment for us. Well...on May 27th, we met that goal! This means that we are starting to work on 2019 Phase Two.

What is Phase Two? We are adding a $1000 Character In Life Scholarship for Rogers HS. We want to continue to have an impact on the community that we work in. We are also adding a $1000 Gold Star Kid Scholarship for a student in the Class of 2019 that resides in Pierce County, WA. This is a huge step for us as we will be reaching out to schools from all over Pierce County in an attempt to provide additional help to a Gold Star Family. It is an exciting time for us and we can't thank our friends and family enough for their support.
